Post Graduate Opportunities

The Rambert School

MA in Advanced Dance Performance (with specialisation in Ritual)

The MA will provide for those with intellectual ambition and research interests. Of equal significance, the programme will, from a vocational perspective, develop the dancers in terms of their technical skills, performance skills and expressivity.
Through a year of study and practice, beyond undergraduate level, the programme will combine dance performance improvement with intellectual expansion and research accomplishment.

Postgraduate Diploma

The option of a Postgraduate Diploma is available. This route involves taking only the first three of the four modules and so engaging in only little written work.

  2. I would post this in the workshops section but it won't let me for some reason!
there's a speech/movement improvisation workshop happening on the 11th to 13th of novemeber. This is with Sten Rudstrom http://www.stenrudstrom.com/ who seems pretty amazing. Also, I know it's expensive but I talked to Kate Hilder who's organizing it and she's letting me do two days for 100 pounds.

    HERES THE INFO

    The Poetry of Improvisation
A 3 day workshop with Sten Rudstrøm

    Friday 11th - Sunday 13th November, 10am - 4pm

When I discovered that language was a visceral experience, that words were not purely mental constructs but actual body experiences, my improvisations began to change. I was no longer limited by what I thought I should say or believed should be said. I was being led by the experience. Each word, each vowel and consonant, on my tongue, in my mouth, teeth, air leads the improvisation. Awareness of that sensation was the driving force for language not thought. Thought and imagination are assistants on the path of language, not the directors.

This workshop is for anyone who has some experience of working with the Action Theatre method, and/or performers who use their voice in their work.

    Specifically, we will work on:
    • using rhythm as the driver for text production
    • allowing association(s) to add quirky, exciting details
    • zooming in and zooming out from an image as a tool for expanding story
    • how not knowing what to say is an opportunity
    • pausing so imagination instead of obligation fills the space
    • listening to the traffic at the crossroads of alliteration, internal rhyme and mood

Come join this discovery! Play with your body, mouth and mind!
Bring notebooks & pens, and comfortable clothing so you can freely move about.

STEN RUDSTRØM has worked for 20 years with Ruth Zaporah, developer of the improvisational performance training process Action Theater. A widely respected teacher and performer, he works throughout the United States and Europe. His workshops are high-energy, articulate and promote the development of stronger performance skills. www.stenrudstrom.com
