On this page you will find a list of airlines as well as links to online travel agencies (OTA) and e-tailers. As convenient as online travel agencies (such as lastminute.com) may be, always try and book directly with an airline as it may save you money!
Why?
Well, let's say that you book with an OTA and there is a problem with your booking. You are at the airport and your flight wont depart because of bad weather and you will now have to reschedule your flight for the next day. Because you have booked with an OTA, and not with the airline directly, the airline rep will not be able to help you and will advise you to contact the OTA for assistance. Advice lines can be really expensive. Not all OTA's have 24 hour call centers and when you do get to speak to someone, you often spend a lot of time on the phone. The OTA is a third party that doesn't have any real power and can't take decisions that an airline rep may be able to make.
Some more tips!
- Travel light. Some airlines will charge you lots for checking in luggage or for carrying extra weight
- Always take out travel insurance before you fly
- Get a frequent flyer card!
- Take your time when booking your flight; mistakes may cost you dearly
- Most airlines will cancel your flight in full if you fail to take one part of the flight
- Always make sure you have a ticket back home ;-)
- And finally:
- ALWAYS TRAVEL WITH YOUR DANCE WEAR IN YOUR HAND LUGGAGE!!!!
- ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU BRING ANY MEDICATION, PLASTERS AND AN ICE PACK..
- ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EMERGENCY NUMBERS READY-AS WELL THE EMBASSY ADDRESS....

I heard about this site a year ago when on holiday in the USA. I have since used it three times and it's the first place I turn to for accommodation when I am to go away. You have to be careful though as with anything on line. Make sure that the person you book with has plenty references and reviews and if you sign in with facebook you will see that you and some of the people who advertise their space have friends in common.

ReplyDeleteHey, so in terms of getting around i have just read jacks comment which i think will be particularly useful as i have found (when looking into fights to Norway for Carte Blanche’s audition)that where the audition is being held is literally miles away from an airport. So plan in advance the routes from airport to audition and budget for it also. If anyone is thinking of doing this audition flights are £9 (Ryanair)at the moment so send off your stuff quick!

Guys, remember that airlines like Ryanair make you pay to use the toilet and if you don't print off your boarding pass at home, they will also charge you for that.
ReplyDeleteIf you're ever going to Sweden, Norway or Denmark scandinavian airlines have set price for youth fares no matter when you book your ticket. About £70.

Norwegian.com is a discount airline that flies to all of scandinavia as well, but a whole lot better service than easyjet and ryanair, and is most often even cheaper than sas.
